Vaginal Rejuvination Q&A

What is vaginal rejuvenation?

Vaginal rejuvenation is a nonsurgical treatment to address the effects of aging, pregnancy, and childbirth on your vagina and labia. The team at Highland Park Ob-Gyn Associates uses the ThermiVa vaginal rejuvenation  technology.

As you age and your hormones change, your vaginal tissue can become dry and vulnerable to injury. These changes can also weaken your pelvic floor. As a result, you can experience issues like painful intercourse, decreasing the inability to achieve orgasm, vaginal infections, and urinary incontinence.

ThermiVa uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production in your vaginal tissue. Collagen is one of the fibers that keep your skin and mucosal tissues strong and resilient.

What symptoms can vaginal rejuvenation relieve?

Every woman has unique needs and responds differently to ThermiVa treatment. However, vaginal rejuvenation may relieve disruptive symptoms, such as:

  • Vaginal discomfort

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Pain with intercourse

  • Vaginal laxity

  • Vaginal atrophy

  • Pelvic pain

  • Bladder leakage

ThermiVa vaginal rejuvenation can also tighten the skin on your labia, improving the outside appearance of your genitals.

Am I a good candidate for vaginal rejuvenation?

The doctors at Highland Park Ob-Gyn Associates provide thorough consultations and exams before recommending vaginal rejuvenation. Please feel free to contact the doctors.

What happens during vaginal rejuvenation?

Vaginal rejuvenation is a relatively quick procedure. You recline on an examination table with your feet in stirrups, as if you’re having a pelvic exam.

Your doctor inserts the ThermiVa wand into your vaginal canal and turns on the radiofrequency energy. They can tailor the intensity of the treatment to meet your needs.

The treatment isn’t painful, but you might notice a warming sensation. You don’t need any anesthesia, and the device is narrow and designed to fit comfortably inside the vagina.

ThermiVa treatments take approximately 30 minutes. Most patients begin with a series of three treatments over three months. You might need to have an annual touch-up treatment to maintain the effects.

What should I expect after vaginal rejuvenation?

You don’t need any downtime to recover from vaginal rejuvenation. You can return to work and your regular activities immediately. You also don’t have to wait to have penetrative vaginal sex after your ThermiVa treatment.

Call Highland Park Ob-Gyn Associates or make an appointment online today to find out if ThermiVa vaginal rejuvenation is right for you.
